Western Meal

Late, from the other coast ... Lunch with Sweetser at Costa Azul on
Coronado Island.

Sat outside and had very nice enchiladas, probably the best Mexican
food of my four days in Southern California.

Very little talk about Grady and no relevant conversations about lemon
bars, aside from a mentioning of the vegan ones from Frick. Sweetser
refused to believe they were any good.

Walked around the downtown area for a while. Forgot to buy a book on
The Del again, second time I've done that in 14 years.

That just means I won't have to waste any on her, which means more for you & yours, Johnson. I guess if I ever want to make any for her, I'll have to look for a recipe that includes ostrich, foie gras, and an item which I swear I once saw on the appetizer menu at "The National", veal bone marrow. Bon Appetite!

Geez, you had 14 years to get it right and still, no book? Eh, just goes to show you that nothing goes right in California. ;)

It's California. Things can only go left. Never right.

I think ostrich sounds good. Then again, I've eaten elephant. I prefer consuming endangered species...

I am getting menu changes ready for fall semester and was hoping for your input for items we have had in the past, or have now, that need to stay or go, in your humble opinions! I can't go real crazy, as food costs for this unit do not allow, but I would be interested in everyone's opinions. Thanks! Also OK to comment on the sandwich board.

Savory Lentils!!! Bring 'em back!

I'm kidding. I may have been the only person who ate the things.

I liked the stir-fried rice dishes they used to offer, like pasta now, especially with chicken and various veggies. There was a chicken casserole thing from way back that was good too, but I can't remember the details. And cherry pie. We need cherry pie.

The meatloaf needs to stay, and the Georgia chicken gets positive reviews. In May there was a Caribbean meatball dish that was pretty good, maybe hang on to that.

Definitely bring back the Caribbean meatballs. Those things were good.
